A series anime for television based on the game was produced by TMS Entertainment and aired in Japan on TV Tokyo from January 8, 2011. A second season of the anime began airing on April 8, 2012.
The protagonist of the story, Aichi Sendou, is a timid boy in his third year of middle school. HAS always lived his life looking backward rather than forward, trying not to put too much on display.
However, Aichi has one thing sets it apart from the others - the
"Blaster Blade," a card from a card game that was given when he was
little.
This card is the reason why he begins to play a game of cards that would drastically change his life. The name of this card game is "Vanguard." This game takes place on another planet called "Cray" and through a system of never before seen, and has become popular all over the world.
Aichi, immediately attracted by Vanguard, and became a friend of Misaki Tokura and Kamui Katsuragi, along with other rivals. Although this is a rivalry "friendly", Aichi begins to enjoy a more fulfilling life. Aichi, however, has a goal: to fight at least once a fighter Vanguard called Kai Toshiki, a cold and lonely high school student, has an incredible skill in the game.

Aichi Sendou

Toshiki Kai

He is very enthusiastic and energetic about Vanguard and does not care who his opponent is as long as they are not weak in their eyes. He hates to underestimate him because of his height and age.
Ren Suzugamori
Main antagonist and leader of the Foo Fighters, consisting of over 500 members separated into different teams. He is a powerful player who is part of Vanguard Team AL4, whose membership is open only to the strongest members of the Foo Fighters.
Taishi Miwa
A high school student who attends the same school as Kai. He is one of the few people on friendly terms with Kai, but even he knows a lot about him.
Emi Sendou
Aichi's younger sister and elementary student. She is very protective and caring with his older brother. When she became interested in Vanguard, she begins to feel a bit neglected, but is happy to see Aichi can get passionate about something like that.
