Lovely Complex, also known as LoveCom, is a story about a relationship between two characters complexed by their size. The anime is very attached to the sleeve in the beginning of the relationship of Risa and Otani, but when they are already dating anime omits several of his adventures and couples.
Risa Koizumi is a girl who is 170 cm, which makes it a tall person compared to other girls in her school. Instead, Atsushi Ootani (or Otani) is a boy who does as 156 cm, which does not prevent him from playing in a basketball club.
These two characters are referred to a comedy duo, the All Hanshin Kyojin with an All Hanshin is really small, and All Kyojin is really great. Risa and Ootani are nicknamed that way despite themselves, because of their difference in size and their constant bickering. But their size prevents them from fully unfold: they lack confidence in terms of relationships with the opposite sex.
During the summer holidays, Risa Koizumi and Atsushi Otani fall in love with two people and decide to help each other and encourage each other to overcome their complex and try to deceive the elect of their hearts.

She can be impulsive and strong-willed at times, and is rarely willing to display her softer side. She had a crush on Suzuki before he started dating Chiharu. In the beginning of the series, Risa is 170 cm (5 ft 7 in) but she gains 2 cm (0.79 in) in height to become 172 cm (5 ft 8 in).
Atsushi Ōtani
He is a very popular boy with his position in the basketball team. He is very short for a boy, standing 156 centimetres (5 ft 1 in). He reveals he wants to go to University after highschool graduation to get his teaching certificate. He dreams of teaching basketball to elementary school students.
Nobuko Ishihara
She is generally wiser than Risa or Chiharu in the ways of love, and is always ready to offer her advice. She's mostly the one who sets up all the 'alone time' moments with Risa and Ōtani, but it usually ends up failing and Risa goes back to her for comfort.
Heikichi Nakao
He is a very cute and very nice guy always ready to console one of his friends. He always puts the finger where it hurts and always provokes a reaction from Ootani.
Chiharu Tanaka
She is a shy young girl especially allergic to boys. It feels good with her friends but will be more relaxed with Ootani because, due to its size, it reminds him of a girl. She has a crush on Suzuki and they end up dating.
Ryoji Suzuki
The boy who liked to laugh at first. He's tall, serious and quiet. After Otani asked him to be his friend, became a member of Risa and the others.
