Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club is a series of anime directed by Hiroko Utsumi and produced by Kyoto Animation with Animation Do. The novel follows the characters as they were in high school. The anime premiered on July 4, 2013.
The story revolves around Haruka Nanase, a guy who has always liked to dive into the water and swim. Before graduating from elementary school, participated in a swim meet with his fellow club: Rin Matsuoka, Makoto Tachibana and Nagisa Hazuki.
After the win boys each went his own way. Time has passed and after take years without seeing his friend Rin, who went abroad and now has returned, Haruka challenges to a swimming competition to show how much he has improved over the years. Haruka does not intend that runs there, so Makoto gathers and Nagisa, his old friends from primary school swimming club from which also the Rhine, a new member named Rei Ryugazaki to form the school's swimming club in order Iwatobi beat Rin and his new team of a rival school.

Haruka Nanase
He has an obsession with freestyle swimming. His love for the water is so great that just is near he takes off his clothes, leaving only her swimsuit. He's a guy with a girl's name which causes always think it's a girl when they hear his name, his friends call him Haru.
Makoto Tachibana
A boy attends 2nd year also, in the same kind of Haruka. He understands the strengths of his friend and often acts as her spokesman. He is afraid of the sea since an old man who was very fond, died in an accident in his fishing boat.
Nagisa Hazuki
A freshman boy attends school also Iwatobi. He is very cheerful and is not afraid to speak his mind. Deeply admires Haruka swimming style so decided to enroll in the same school as him.
Rei Ryugazaki
He is attractive and intelligent, but is often manipulated by Nagisa for some reason. Only attracted by beauty sports show, and also the use of calculations. At first he refused to join the club on several occasions, because I thought that swimming did not have any kind of beauty, not to mention the fact that not swim.
Rin Matsuoka
He is Haruka's rival and his former teammate in elementary school. He comes back to Japan after studying abroad in Australia during middle school and becomes estranged to his former teammates due to a change in his personality.
Go Matsuoka
She joins the swim club as manager in the hope that it might help his brother to change back to his old self. She has a tendency to blush when men admiring his muscles.
