The Natsume Book of Friends

Since he was a child, Takashi Natsume is in possession of a strong spiritual force and is able to see the Yokai (spirits from Japanese folklore), a power inherited from his grandmother Reiko. A power that has always been the cause of problems for him: he was a boy orphaned, Natsume has been assigned to various relatives, who regarded him as a liar looking for attention and a difficult child to manage, because of the stories he told and which nobody believed. Even among his peers was considered a liar.

At fifteen he was assigned to Fujiwara, a couple with no children of his distant relatives who live in the birthplace of my grandmother Reiko and willingly accept the boy, who does not cause problems for the two decided to conceal his abilities and do not tell anything about yōkai.
Natsume comes into possession of some objects left them behind by Reiko, including the Yujincho (Book of Friends), a block that contains the names of the spirits she defeated and made his servants. Whoever possesses it also gets control of those spirits, which makes it very attractive for the same yokai.

Natsume then takes the decision to return the names to their owners but in doing so encounters spirits who want the Book of Friends: she fled from them, by mistake free Natsume Madara, a powerful spirit in a sealed sanctuary and makes a pact with him: in return for his services as a bodyguard, Natsume will sell the book to his death.


The Natsume Book of Friends Characters:

Takashi Natsume
Natsume is an ordinary boy. But he can see spirits but no one knows. One day he inherits a strange book that belonged to his grandmother Reiko also had that ability. Resolves to return to the monsters their names which were taken away. From this, various monsters begin to approach Natsume to recover what they lost.

Reiko Natsume
Since Natsume Reiko could see spirits, was despised by ordinary people. To escape her lonely, challenged monsters to follow. Took their names as proof of their obedience and wrote in the book of friends, Yujin-cho . She died young and the cause of death is unknown.

Kaname Tanuma
First-year student, moved into the area shortly after Natsume. As Natsume is in possession of spiritual powers, although much lower: it can perceive the presence of spirits, or see their shadows. Is frustrated by their presence, since they weaken it, making it easy prey to disease. His father is a Buddhist monaco, that for his sake had begun to cleanse the area by the spirits, causing the anger.

Tooru Taki
She is the classmate of Natsume. She normally can not see spirits, but when she draws a magic circle of his grandfather deceased cult, she is able to see any spirit that enters the magic circle.

Shuuichi Natori
A famous actor, very popular among women. As Natsume has spiritual powers, which he uses to his second job, that of exorcist. Natsume meets by chance, during the shooting of his film: after checking that it was human and understand the capabilities of the guy trying to make one of his assistants, but let go of the idea. He wears glasses, but not for the visually impaired to see better spirits.

Seiji Matoba
Chief of the Clan Matoba, a famous and powerful family of exorcists. Cool and rational, is an unscrupulous person who uses any method to do its job. No problem to use human or yōkai as bait to attract the most powerful spirits. To him we are nothing but tools to use and delete if they are no longer useful.
