Full Moon Wo Sagashite

Searching for the Full Moon starring a 12 year old girl named Mitsuki Koyama. Mitsuki has a good voice and wants to become a singer like his father, but is suffering from throat cancer, which can be cured by removing the vocal cords.

 One evening Mitsuki sees emerge from her poster on the astronomical full moon, attached to the wall, two shinigami (messenger of death), Takuto and Meroko, that only she can see. The two formed the group Negi Ramen (or Spring Onion Noodles ) and have the task of taking the soul of the girl at the time of death and to prevent anyone to save his life.

Mitsuki, discovering that the two will die within one year just because of cancer, is convinced of having to rush at all costs to become a famous singer. To pass the test of Idol , though, the girl should have a minimum regulation for 15 years: it makes a pact with Takuto to be transformed into a 16 year old girl. From the sixteen year old girl's throat seems to come back healthy and able to sing so loudly without any difficulty. Thanks to his talent Mitsuki won the audition and begins his career in music under the name of Full Moon to hide his true identity.

Mitsuki Koyama
She is a 12 year old girl, who dreams of becoming a singer pop , but suffers from throat cancer and will die if not operated. Yet Mitsuki does not want, she is also an orphan and raised in an orphanage, then went to live with his grandmother, who does not let sing.

Takuto Kira
He is the companion of Meroko, and assign Mitsuki's soul. His suit did Shinigami Meroko which is a cat cap with a backpack with wings (which are replicas until it becomes true shinigami). It is able to transform into cat toys. He transforms Mitsuki into a 16 years and help to participate in an audition.

Meroko Yui
She is very fun and outgoing, is Takuto's partner and is in love with him, but his love is unrequited. She is a rabbit with long ears, and is capable of becoming a stuffed rabbit. You can change your appearance for other characters, using the words "Mero mere change!".

Izumi Rio
She is a Shinigami that appears later in the story. Although the anime is presented as the antagonist in the manga is that Izumi had a very bad when he was alive, which can overcome thanks to Mitsuki. It also shows that he loves Meroko and end of the sleeve end up together in love as being both partner also shinigami.

Full Moon
She is the version of Mitsuki to 16 years and a pop singer. Mitsuki chooses this name because Eichi goal is to become an astronomer and the term 'Full Moon' reminded the boy Mitsuki. Moreover, the Japanese name 'Mitsuki' means 'full moon'. The appearance of Full Moon depends on the powers of Takuto, none of the other messengers of death is able to transform Mitsuki. Unlike Mistuki, Full Moon is so healthy and can sing.

Eichi Sakurai
He is a 16 year old boy with whom she had lived in the orphanage, and from which it was due to post because of his adoption that forced him to move to America. Mitsuki, therefore, not only going to realize his dream, but also the desire to sing for hoping that Eichi, listening to his songs, go back to Japan again and be able to confess his feelings well before his death. Then Mitsuki meets other messengers of death, Izumi and Jonathan, and befriends an Idol Madoka rival. Shortly after first hearing the story the anime diverges little from the manga, while maintaining the basic theme.
