Nagasumi Michishio
He is the protagonist of the story, and it's also the only family with a normal mind, and his grandmother. When pressed, he shows his powers, as uncanny dodge and feel the impending danger. He decides to face her fears head on and accept responsibility to take care of Sun and his wife, yet not make it easier for him since almost all the Seto clan that are against their union. Later he really in love with Sun.
Sun Seto
She is the daughter of the chief of the clan Seto Yakuza , Gōzaburō Seto. She believes strongly in the spirit of gentle about newts , and is devoted to his wife Nagasumi condition. She is also passionate about it. While it does not become an adult, she can not control his human form when it comes to water, so in too many situations we see Nagasumi try to hide the shape of a mermaid Sun of other humans. She always talks about how to write ninkyou (chivalry) and ningyo (mermaid (o)) to explain his actions honorable. Her name is related to the sea and Seto is also a direct reference to the "Sun" in English ( Sun ).
Maki
"Concha swivel" Maki is an assassin working for the Seto Group, as well as a devoted friend of Sun She, like Gozaburou not like the idea of "losing" to Nagasumi Sun, and always tries to distract Sun with bullshit in order to shoot Nagasumi in with your cannon of water. She also feels Nagasumi Lunar and should stay together to leave Sun alone.
Shark Fujishiro
He is a member of the Seto Group, initially used to attack Nagasumi. In human form he is a blond man who teaches physical education in ESOL Nagasumi. In his mind, the sooner Nagasumi die, the sooner they can return to the sea of Seto. He usually tries to "devour" Nagasumi and other poor people that cross your path. Mawari Zenigata
She is the daughter of police chief in the hometown of Nagasumi, and his childhood friend as well as being passionate about it. His name is related to Zenigata Heiji and "Omawari-san" (a nice way of saying police in Japanese).
Lunar Edomae
She used her powers siren voice to become a pop star. She suffers from a superiority complex, calling itself using "Atashi-sama" (arrogant way of speaking of himself), and is always trying to outdo Sun Sun She initially thought she wanted only to Nagasumi, and that nothing could be her, so she tries to steal it Nagasumi, making his slave, as Nagasumi also seen as a mermaid in her. Later she moves home to Nagasumi too. She is Nagasumi as a slave, and uses Sun to overcome, but then begins to like him. His name is related to Tokyo Bay and the moon .
Akeno Shiranui
She has the responsibility of deporting all the mer-people who fail to qualify as not only resembling humans but also not arousing any suspicion of their true identities; and unlike the other mermaids in the cast, Akeno is capable of suppressing her mermaid transformation, for brief moments, after coming into contact with water, having trained herself to do so. When first introduced she had a hostile attitude towards the other major protagonists.
Satori Sarutobi
She is Saru's little sister who appears in the original manga and the OVA series. After being saved from a burning movie theatre by Nagasumi, she calls him "Nagasumi Willis" after "Bunta Willis" an action hero that parodies Bruce Willis and Bunta Sugawara. She develops feelings for Nagasumi.
