"The poor performance of the student in the school of magic" is a series of light novels written by Tsutomu Sato and illustrated by Kana Ishida. The animated version is performed by the studio Madhouse and aired between April and September 2014 on Tokyo MX.
The series takes place in a world where magic exists and has been used as a technology for nearly a century. Rather than casting spells with songs and other traditional forms, mages use a device called a Casting Assistant Device, known as CAD. Mages to send their DAC psions or particles of thought while their CAD provides an activation sequence, which is then used to construct a ritual to invoke magic.
This ritual is the theory of forms, the platform on which Eidos is recorded. The Eidos refers to a form of information that is attached to a phenomenon. Modern Magic uses false signals to manipulate the Eidos a target, which in turn changes the phenomenon and causes physical changes in the real world.
In 2095, Tatsuya Shiba Shiba and her sister Miyuki are new students at the Private University School of Magic known as the (First High School). Students are classified according to their test scores: students with the highest scores are listed in the course syllabus, while those with the lowest scores are included in the course. These flows are known colloquially (and against the school policy) as "Bloom" (flower) and "Weed" (weed). Miyuki finished at the top entrance exams and was selected to be the representative of the early years, while Tatsuya is placed in Race because of its low scores on practice tests, despite having achieved the highest score in the game written / theoretical examinations.

Shiba Tatsuya
He is usually expressionless and very rarely does he get surprised or enthusiastic, and whenever he does, however, it's often at the minimum level. In the anime, he has dark hair that reaches his clear blue eyes in several uneven cut bangs - he shares both his hair and eye color with his sister Miyuki.
Shiba Miyuki
She is described as a lovely, beautiful girl who captivates whoever sets their eyes on her. Her arms and legs are slim, slender without looking too unhealthy. It was mentioned by Mayumi that the number of perfectly symmetrical features in Miyuki was overwhelming to the point that "her confidence in herself wavered."
Chiba Erika
She is bright, optimistic, and a person who gets carried away easily. Even for people whom she has just met, she often addresses them in a friendly manner of speaking. Her frank and seemingly arrogant attitude, however, often gets her into countless arguments with her fellow classmates, Saijou Leonhart in particular.
Shibata Mizuki
Despite being a shy person, she is the one who loses her temper over the Course 1 students' rude actions during the first day of school, when the group persistently tried to get Miyuki to join them. She provoked Morisaki Shun, the one leading the group of Bloom students, almost resulting in a 'battle using magic' had Chiba Erika not interrupted.
Saegusa Mayumi
Initially, she acts coy around Tatsuya, just as she always does in the presence of other people. Gradually, she reveals her true nature after acknowledging him. She appears to have slightly sadistic or childish tendencies, as shown through the bitter Valentine's chocolate she gave to Tatsuya and Hattori Gyoubushoujo Hanzou.
Kitayama Shizuku
She is straightforward, occasionally does merciless snarking, and can say 'mushy' comments out loud without any sense of shame. Her usual expressionless face has had Tatsuya sometimes confused as to whether she is serious or not, but after getting used to it, he has realized that she simply doesn't lie. In the worst case, she would simply remain silent.
Mitsui Honoka
She is a student of First High School, a Year 2 Course 1 student who is serving as a Secretary of the Student Council. After Tatsuya covered up the incident, she apologized and introduced herself, which then resulted in her hanging out with him and everyone else becoming one of their closest friends along with her best friend, Shizuku.
Watanabe Mari
She was appointed to be the Public Morals Committee Chief because of her tough, disciplined, and sporty personality, also another reason is because she is also great at combat. Even though they never state the term of their relationship, she is one of former Student Council President, Saegusa Mayumi 's closest friend. They always seem to be together.
