With disloyalty and honor at stake, staying apathetic proves challenging, especially when one young ninja from an enemy camp comes forward with a very unusual request.
However, when he learns that the ninjas are after a special Hijutsu called the Shinrabanshou stamped within him, and that his new friends Kouichi and Kumohira are actually ninjas themselves. He gets absorbed into a scheme involving underground clans of ninja and samurai unseen from the public eye, all with their own agendas for the Hijutsu.

Miharu Rokujou
His only target is to succeed to the family's Okonomiyaki store. Although Nabari's most powerful secret art, the Shinrabanshou, is literally written into his body and he is venerated by all of Nabari's ninja as king, Miharu cares little about his gift's profound merits.
Raimei Shimizu
She is a samurai of the Shimizu family and has vowed to kill her older brother Raikou, who wiped out the clan five years ago.
Yoite
He is a ninja who uses the "Kira", a technique that shoots the user's ki into the target's body and controls it from the inside out, causing the target's bones to break or their body to completely explode.
Kazuhiko Yukimi
He acts as a squad leader on field missions and is a freelance writer in the front world. He claims he hates kids and calls them "brats".
Raikou Shimizu
He single handedly slaughtered his entire clan, except for his sister Raimei. This action was actually vengeance against his uncle and his gang, who murdered his parents in a coup d'état to take over the clan.
Gau Meguro
He assists Raikou with his responsibilities to the Kairoushuu, usually compiling reports and taking samples from their targets.
Shijima Kurookano/ Shiratama
She is a mysterious member of the Alya Academy Student Council who seems to know more than she lets on. She was made immortal by a previous hijutsu user and wants Miharu to free her from this curse.
