In the real world, they are reclusive and antisocial Hikikomori.

In the world of video games, they play together as empty space, a mysterious group of online gamers who do not know defeat, finishing first in all games in which they participate. Because account names of the characters are always an empty space, they are known as "White".

One day after beating a mysterious challenger to chess online, Sora and Shiro receive an offer of their opponent: the reborn in his world, a world where everything is decided by the games. Sora and Shiro, tired of their world, accepted his proposal and are then transported into the fantasy world of Disboard Tet, the last god of this world, as well as their old adversary. Overall, Shiro Sora and begin their journey to reclaim the human race Imanity and conquer the world, to challenge Tet and get her as a single deity.

No Game No Life Characters:

Sora
Despite being a NEET and a shut-in, Sora is extremely outgoing, confident and not afraid to play games with people face to face, even when they're cheating. He is also extremely manipulative, which he calls "negotiating skills". This complements Shiro's play style consisting of logic and computations.

Shiro
She is described as a genius in logic and problems, but has difficulty understanding emotions or behaviour, relying on Sora to help her defeat beings with emotions such as Tet in their chess match. She also rarely shows much emotion at all on her face and, despite her genius intellect, speaks in short terse sentences and in a third-person perspective.

Stephanie Dola
She is expressive and emotional, wearing her heart on her sleeve to the point where she cannot hide her emotions during a poker game. She loved her grandfather dearly and is angered when people call her grandfather a fool. She fell in love with Sora due to the pledges forcing her to, and she often has violent outbursts to try to break free of it.

Jibril
She has a great love for knowledge and gets easily excited at the prospect of gaining new knowledge, such as when she drooled over Sora's tablet after seeing the vast information it contained. Despite her initial arrogance, she has a high sense of honor while playing games, as she doesn't like cheating, or being cheated.

Hatsuse Izuna
She is adored by Sora and Shiro for being extremely cute, and they love petting her fur. Likewise, Izuna seems to share the same fondness towards them and enjoys being petted. She even mentions once that she prefers the siblings over her grandfather. She is still learning the Imanity language, and has a habit of saying "please after everything in an attempt to make it sound polite.

Chlammy Zell/Kurami Zell
When Sora yelled at her for underestimating the human race, she threw away her confident facade and broke down in tears while childishly calling Sora names and blaming him. When she challenges Sora again she still acts pessimistic about the possibilities of the Imanity, but after being defeated again and her memories are returned, she gains a newly found respect for Sora and the Imanity, and they part ways in good terms as she agrees on helping defeat the Werebeasts and to unite the other races.

Tet
Tet has been shown to be bright and playful like any human boy of his apparent age. From the rules he set up on Disboard he appears to abhor violence and fighting, probably after seeing what the ancient war did to the world. This shows that he may be somewhat benevolent and peaceful.

Fiel Nirvalen
Her name shortened to Fii, is an elf girl who is Chlammy Zell's game partner, as well as the one who helps her cheat using her elven magic. Despite her young looking physical appearance, she is actually around 52 years old.
