The series is a parody of the Cthulhu Mythos, and Japanese pop culture with the "crawling chaos" Nyarlathotep as the protagonist, who is here represented as a horror-like creature rather than a pretty girl. The novel series was also a radio drama, manga and more animes implemented.
The history of Haiyore! Nyaruko-san revolves around Nyaruko, the divinity formless chaos (Nyarlathotep), able to take the form of a familiar student haired. Mahiro Yasaka is a common high-school student, who has to escape from an alien abduction, until such time as Nyaruko comes to his rescue.
She explains that the creatures of the works of HP Lovecraft is real, and that has been sent to Earth to protect it from being kidnapped by an alien smuggler. Finally, Nyaruko and two creatures of Lovecraft, Cthugha (Kuuko) and Hastur (Hasuta), ends up living in the house and attending Mahiro the same school.
Haiyore! Nyaruko-san Characters:
Mahiro Yasaka
He is a human boy, who inadvertently is under the protection of Nyaruko. He tends to attack the aliens with forks when they do get angry. His form of attack is so fast that any alien has been able to dodge yet.
Tamao Kurei
She is very talkative, likes to collect and spread rumors among the class. She became a close friend of Nyaruko and often gives advice. In fact, she has feelings for Mahiro, but decided to follow up and support as Nyaruko feels you cannot compete with it.
Nyarlathotep / Nyaruko
Nyaruko is an alien from the race of Nyarlathotep and has the figure of a girl with long silver hair. She is the human form of a girl with extensive silver hair and green eyes. She is always nice to Mahiro, eager to pursue, but often shows brutal and abusive habits typical of the aliens. One of its qualities is that he is obsessed with the culture otaku.
Cthugha
She appears as a girl with red hair and bows to look like flames. She usually has a quiet, monotonous and silent voice and otherwise, a super cooled character. She is obsessed with the culture gamer.
Hastur / Hasuta
He was the " King in Yellow "blonde hair and wearing yellow clothes, being held assuming its appearance of Mahiro only for a girl. In addition, a more obedient, timid character and seems out of the three "evil gods" to be the one with common sense.
Ghutatan
She is kind of childish for an alien, as seen in episode 11 when the Nyarlathotepian trio chases Mahiro for her. She has a butler named Roy Fooger the Lloigor.
