Magical Warfare is a light novel Japanese written by Hisashi Suzuki and illustrated by Lunalia. An anime television series adaptation by Madhouse began airing from January 9, 2014. Magical warfare tells the story of Nanase Takeshi, a young student at normal quite traumatic past.

He is a diligent high school student. He holds high rank in Kendo. Due to an accident in the past, he doesn't get along well with his family.
Aiba Miu
She is a magician. She's trying to rescue her brother whose memories have been altered after he was captured by the enemy. Takeshi finds her when she collapsed from using too much power.
Isoshima Kurumi
She's Takeshi's childhood friend and attends the sames school. Due to certain events in her past she has a strong distrust towards men, but she's able to be open with Takeshi.
Ida Kazumi
He is Takeshi's classmate. He's rumored to be a delinquent and avoided by others, but the truth is he's a passionate man who cares greatly for his little sister.
Gekkou Nanase
He is Takeshi's younger brother and main antagonist. Their conflict is part of main plot. He possesses very powerful and destructive magic. He is also more talented at Kendo than his brother Takeshi, but due to a certain incident in the past with Takeshi and Kurumi, he stopped practicing. Has an obsessive attraction towards Kurumi, which coupled with his difficult personality, makes him hated by his teammates, Takao and Hotaru.
